Lane's Story

Warning!  The story you are about to read tells of the wondrous healing power of
Jesus Christ!


 July '04 our grandson Lane, who was only 6 months old at the time,
 was diagnosed with HSV1  Encephalitis. They said it was a very rare disease and
had no explanation as to how he had contracted it.  When I saw
him lying there in that hospital bed I didn't think he would make it through the night.
I turned to my daughter and she told me he was fine, that God had told her that
he was going to heal Lane.  At that moment I thought she was in denial and they
needed to bring someone in to talk with her to help her face things.
 
They ran a series of tests and told us he had brain damage on both sides, could not hear
 in his left ear, had vision problems, and couldn't move his left side.  He could no longer sit,
crawl, or even focus to look at you.  He couldn't eat his bottle any longer so they
inserted a feed tube.  The prognosis they gave us was very dim, that he wouldn't
sit, walk, talk, eat, and could develop other serious conditions.
They sent him home after 3 weeks and then he got worse.

He would continuously cry and throw himself about.  If was so bad the only way
you could take care of him was to put him on the bed.  We called the doctors and
they told us that was just the way he would be.  After a few days of that my daughter
knew that something was seriously wrong so she took him to the emergency
room.  After more tests they said they believed that the HSV1 Encephalitis had returned.
  Lane was in the hospital for another 3 weeks.  They ran more tests to find he could now
hear and the vision problems were gone.

Lane began eating a few weeks later and after a lot of dispute with the doctors
they removed his feeding tube.  He continued daily with his physical therapy then
 we received his first progress report. They were at a standstill until he could learn to sit. 
Well my daughter knew what to do, she took it to the Lord.  She
said she prayed almost an entire night.  The next morning she got up and took Lane to
Children's Hospital for his therapy.  They arrived as usual, handed Lane to the therapist
and she put him on the floor and Praise The Lord, HE SAT.  My daughter was just
running around the room elated.  Don't stop reading now this is only the beginning.

Lane started having seizures.  After many trials, with many medications nothing seemed
to be working.  He was hospitalized and more tests ran.  Well just one of those tests was
another MRI, now this MRI reports brain damage is only on the right side.  Lane had several
MRI's previously that showed brain damage on both sides.  They send Lane home on
only one medication for his seizures and this is the same medicine he was previously
on, but now it is working.  We asked for their explanation as to why the medicine now
works when before it wasn't helping before but they have no answers.  When asked how so
many other MRI's were wrong, no answer.  But my daughter is always glad to give them the
answer that God is the great physician and he has healed Lane.
After a few weeks home Lane is now crawling!!  He is pulling up to things and there's
not a doubt in my mind that he will be walking and talking soon.  The seizures are
starting again and I feel that more brain cells are being repaired is the reason. 
Lane's recovery is a true miracle from God.

UPDATE:  Lane is having heart surgery May 11. 

Lane went through his surgery with flying colors.  The doctors had told us he
would be in ICU for two days but the good Lord didn't see it that way.  Lane
was sent back to his room after surgery, not ICU and was actually sent home
in only two days!  He is in a lot of pain, but is still trying to crawl.
UPDATE:  Lane is now starting to walk.  He will take 3 or 4 steps walking between
us and he can walk with the aid of his walker.  He is still weak with his left leg,
so please remember him in prayer.
UPDATE: Lane  is now walking everywhere!!!  It just blesses me so I just want to
cry every time I see him walking.  I can't thank the Lord enough! 
UPDATE:  Lane is now starting to speak!  He first said ball in therapy, then later he said
babba.  He is now connecting Mama with the word babba.  We are so very
thankful for all the Lord has done with Lane.  I know God has big plans for him!

If you know don't know this Saviour I'm speaking of you can get to know him with a
simple prayer.  Giving your life to the Lord is the greatest thing that can ever happen
to you.  The Lord can take away your pain whether it be physical or emotional.  These
times that we live in today are just too hard to walk alone, you need someone that
will hold your hand and see you through.  Someone that is always there for you any time
of the day, any day of the week.  When you get saved God
takes away the scales from your eyes and you see things so much clearer!   You will go outside
and the grass will look greener, the sky will be bluer, there will be so many stars in the
sky at night it will take your breath away.  You will find that you love people, people you didn't
even like!  These are just a few of the things the Lord does for you.  I know you feel
you can't do it and no you can't do it alone.  But once you have the Lord on your side
it is so easy.  The sinful things that you once said and did just fade away.  The thought
of going to church that once sounded dreadful is now the thought that won't go out of your
head because you can't wait to get back there.  God loves you so much more than
you can even imagine.  He wants you to know he's with you that you're never alone and
he will see you through anything.

So if you feel like your life is out of hand and you're up against a wall I know a man that
can help you and his name is Jesus.  So why don't you give him a call today!  His
line is never busy and you won't get the answering machine or voice mail.  He's a
great listener and you will never find anyone that loves you more.

If you are having problems with asking Jesus into your life, I suggest picking up a bible
and reading the book of John.  After reading every chapter, every verse, then pray
and ask God to forgive you of your sins and to come into your heart and take control of
your life.   Then you better hang on because boy are you in for the time of your life!
